Happy Holidays

Last week I got this holiday card in the mail:

How cool is this? The low-quality phone pictures do not really do it justice. The card was done by some awesome designer friends Ryan Nussbaum and Rachel Newborn. Thanks you guys.

Recap

Art carnage was a lot of fun. Thanks to everyone who came!

These card sets (original cut up top) were by far my most successful item. Not surprising I guess since they were the most holiday-appropriate. This started out as a commissioned card design for a friend. I liked it enough that I ordered some extra prints to sell on my own.

Art Carnage

The Soundry is an art studio I belong to and they are putting on a huge-ish indie craft show/improv/performance/belly dancing event this Saturday. I will be there selling some original papercuts of mine, as well as postcards and holiday cards.

Event info is here. Novermber 27th, 8PM-12AM. Come by if you are in the DC metro area.

DC Sketchcrawl

I've been kind of reluctant to go out drawing in DC for whatever reason- difficult to get around, too many people, excuses excuses. This past Saturday I got out to join the local sketchcrawl group for the day.
We started out at the national cathedral and worked our way downtown towards Dupont Circle.

While drawing at the Islamic Center, a wedding group from Sierra Leone showed up. I was only able to get a few really rough drawings because they did not stay outside very long. They do not really do justice to how beautiful everyone's outfits were. It was one of those weird, serendipitous moments that happen sometimes when you are outside drawing one particular place for a while.

Find me on the internet

Older blog is here. This is a sketchblog I kept and rarely updated while I was making illustrations in Russia. You can check it out if you are interested in the process for those pictures. Theoretically it is still an on-going blog as my work from this project keeps getting attention every once in a while.

My portfolio website is here and is updated whenever I have a finished picture or project to put up.

I also have mirror portfolios on flickr and the behance network. The behance portfolio also has some design work I've done in the past.

This blog is for updates on things I do now, inspiration, anything I work on in the future.
